Discipleship at Safeharbor

At Safeharbor, we believe that spiritual growth is the heartbeat of a healthy life. We agree with the late Dr. Howard Hendricks, who wisely noted: "When a person makes a confession of faith and is never taken through a formal discipleship process, there is little hope of seeing genuine spiritual transformation."

Discipleship is one of the primary ways we express our love—for one another and for our community. We are committed to a process driven by the perfect, transformative love of Christ, designed to help every person—regardless of their background or stage of life—grow into the image of Jesus.

Our Discipleship Path

We have identified six essential steps that guide our walk together as followers of Christ:

• 1. Love Them: We commit to loving fully and unconditionally, mirroring the way Christ loves us. This is the foundation of every relationship at Safeharbor.
• 2. Show Them: We believe that discipleship is caught as much as it is taught. We strive to model a lifestyle of character, conduct, and wisdom that reflects the life of a disciple.
• 3. Teach Them: We provide instruction rooted in the Scriptures, recognizing the Bible as the sole authority of God’s divine will for our lives.
• 4. Correct Them: We provide leadership and accountability characterized by God’s perfect grace, holding firmly to biblical truth and values.
• 5. Equip Them: We are dedicated to providing our members with the knowledge, confidence, and resources needed to carry the vision of Kingdom-building into their everyday lives.
• 6. Send Them: In obedience to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20), we commission our people to go into their neighborhoods, workplaces, and the world as ambassadors of the Gospel.
